The Sweetness at the Bottom of the Pie - Alan Bradley It was enjoyable, but... I don't know. First of all, I wasn't really sure what I was getting into; I didn't know it was a mystery (silly me, right? But I like to know as little as possible about fiction before I start it. I generally don't read dust jacket descriptions and usually pick books based on a combination of how much I like their cover, my Goodreads friends' star ratings, and the aggregate ratings on Goodreads...which I am just now realizing sounds kind of weird). Anyway if I'd known it was a mystery I might have waited until I was in a mysterious mood, but alas it was too late. It also lost a bit because I wasn't really into it until about the halfway mark. But then I started enjoying it--a lot! So kind of uneven I guess, or maybe it was just me...

Also I surprised myself by correctly guessing the murderer early on ;D
